The Peer Educators


Lucie is finishing her second year at Queen’s, majoring in Film and Media Studies. Last year Lucie was an Intern for Queen’s Health Outreach, and is so excited to be a member of the Kenya initiative during her second year with QHO. Lucie has always been passionate about health and teaching, and was happy to find an organization at Queen’s that implements needs-based health education initiatives. She looks forward to teaching in Mikei, being in a new culture, and sharing the whole experience with her fellow peer educators.


Jenna is finishing her second year of Kinesiology at Queen's, and is so excited to be a part of the Kenya team this year! Jenna has a passion for health, and looks forward to pursuing future endeavours in the health/medical field. She can't wait for the upcoming experience and adventure, and is thrilled to be able to share it with her fellow Peer Educators!


Claire is finishing up her 4th year of life sciences at Queen's and will be starting medical school this fall. In addition to her passion for studying the human body and disease, Claire is very interested in global health. She is really looking forward to learning more about these topics through immersing herself in the Kenya culture. Claire cannot wait to apply the work her and her fellow peer educators have done this year in their teachings and is excited for the adventure ahead!


Chris is currently completing his third year at Queen’s focusing on a major in Biology. By joining the QHO team as a peer educator, he hopes to combine his knowledge on global health with his love for teaching. He is equally excited to radiate his passion towards youth in Kenya, whilst also learning from their culture. He looks forward to this experience and to embark on initiative!


Maddy is a fourth year Queen’s student majoring in History. She grew up in Calgary Alberta, where having the mountains so close sparked her love of adventure. Queen’s Health Outreach is a program that she wanted to work with for quite some time. While at Queen’s, she has worked closely with a program called Beyond Classrooms Kingston, and is really looking forward to spending time with a class of her own! She can’t wait to experience life in and out of the classroom in Mikei Kenya. She is looking forward to working with the group of peer educators and putting their training to use!


Marika is currently in her fourth and final year at Queen’s University, as a Health Studies Major. This is Marika’s first year as a part of Queen’s Health Outreach, an she is delighted to be a member of such a sustainable and diverse organization. Being a part of QHO has allowed her to apply her classroom learnings into planning, implementing, and tailoring a health based curriculum for the students of Mikei. Marika is looking forward to immersing herself in a new culture and creating memories with the Mikei community and her team members!

The Program Directors



Maddie graduated with a degree in Health Studies last spring and is now completing her 5th year of study at Queen's. This year she enthusiastically continued her involvement with QHO as a Program Director. Maddie was a Peer Educator on the Kenya initiative last year and has fond memories of Mikei, the people she met, and the classes she taught. She has loved sharing her experiences with the wonderful group of Peer Educators and can't wait to see everything they will achieve on initiative. Counting down the days!
